Desertification and Groundwater
To build up awareness and increase participation in conserving Agro-ecosystems and “Ellanga” ecosystems in dry zone of Sri Lanka
To discuss the role of media personal in building up appropriate awareness among the general public about the importance of protecting groundwater resources and addressing desertification locally
To buildup a media network among media personal, researchers, academics, farming and industrial communities, and other professionals to have efficient information circulation for prompt actions in developing mitigatory measures
Ministry of environment and wildlife resources has identified the importance of providing necessary training and guidelines for all media personal and organizations those who are working for the environmental sector to have better knowledge about groundwater degradation and how it affect the desertification and build up necessary awareness among the general public as well as the importance of bridging the community feedback to the relevant research and development organizations, policy makers and administrators to take necessary control measures in advance to minimize future ecological disasters.
