To popularize GIS base applications among young professionals to quantify and develop map data in relation to desertification and groundwater degradation
Ministry of environment and wildlife resource has decided to create a GIS based map database to facilitate research and development organizations and decision-making bodies to make appropriate conservation-based development decisions in relation to mitigating desertification and groundwater degradation in primary producing areas of Sri Lanka. Workshop will provide and opportunity to showcase continuing research activities in this field and encourage young scientists to use GIS based mapping techniques when studying such problems in the future.
