Objectives

Desertification and Groundwater

To initiate and establishment of ‘’Segiriya’’ declaration on coordinating tropical belt of the planet earth ensuring conservation of biodiversity and linking countries with the global economies via supply chain management systems
Ministry of environment and wildlife resources has identified not only the importance of conserving local ecological systems, but the need of conserving biodiversity across the tropical belt of the planet, where highest floral and fauna diversities could be observed.
Segiriya declaration is one of the main dialogues planned by the ministry of environment and wildlife resources focusing to initiate a dialogue among countries within the tropical belt of the planet to create a global movement for conserving edible biodiversity and become major supplier of natural and value-added products based on the agroforestry systems for other countries. Proposed Segiriya declaration will declare a “Ellanga” ecosystem based, sustainable development model which could be practiced in tropical countries and share primary production and value-added products with the rest of the world while conserving the natural ecosystems and groundwater resources.
